Here i Europe we just had the biggest music contest there is in the world. The Eurovision Song Contest. Winner of 2014 was Conchita Wurst. I love her performance, her voice and her courage.
The “horror” from so many ignorants in the comment fields around the web are just tiresome. She is a wonderful singer and brave artis. As a European I feel hope about our coming EU-election when a person like this wins with such great margin!
Look at them, aren’t they gorgeous? Both in their own way! 🙂
Conchita Wurst & Conchita Supervia
Carmen with another Conchita,
Early in my singing studies I had the great fortune of getting in contact with a fairly unknown singer. Unknown to the moderna audience that is. Her name is Conchita Supervia. I do think we win a lot from listening to the old divas.
No matter what you think about the sound and style, they ARE closer to the original in time. They embody the oral tradition in way that we can only get close to by listening to their recordings.
When I listen to her I have a feeling Ms Wurst would like her. She too is uncompromising. She dares to use her voice to its full expressive extent. Conchita 2 is still young. I predict her voice and performance will only get better with the years passing by.
Below is one of my favorite arias from Bizet’s Carmen. The Card Scene.
