Changing professions for most people is a scary thing. But do you know what? You don’t have to leave the singing you love. This is about creating something new to expand your career from. The norm for beeing an artist is that you are incapable of doing anything else. You are supposed to fight to keep your artistic identity firmly in place. Don’t change! Now, isn’t that weird?
As artists we’re supposed to be free. Yet our freedom is surrounded with barriers. One of them is money. Another is identity. No changing professions allowed! What if you could free yourself from those ideas? What if you can merge several identities and create a new one? What if you don’t even have to have any identity at all and instead do what you desire to do?
In this video I talk about my own process of becoming both a singer and a business woman, at the same time.
Is there a conflict of professions for real? My answer is NO! Not at all! It’s your life. Your careers. Your right to work freely! Make a conscious choice. Brake the rules. Get out of the norm. It IS your life! That means you get to set your own rules, and you can change them anytime you want. As long as you contribute to the world with your goodness and extraordinary self, everything will be fine.
To gain inspiration on merging professions, skills and inspirations, combined with sheer genius, read about Filippo Brunelleschi. A goldsmith becoming one of the finest architects to live, ever!
I lived in Florence once, to study singing. I don’t know how many times I’ve had the great fortune to visit Santa Maria del Fiore, standing by his side, under the cupola in awe and wonder and gratitude. Filippo had no problems with changing professions.
Tell me below, are you constricting yourself to one fixed role? Or are you accepting every part the theater of the world is offering you? Raise the curtain! 😀
