Time management is crucial to your success in anything. Tedious information, I know! You have only so many hours, as we all do, blah, blah. Use them wisely! Blah, Blah.
One tiny little thing only… It happens to be true…
The other day I put this quote on my Fanpage
“None of us suddenly becomes something overnight. The preparations have been in the making for a lifetime.” – Gail Godwin”
Effective time management is not necessarily about time management tools and schedules. It can just as well be about using the little time you have in a constructive way. The key is consistency!
When I moved from Stockholm to Malmö an interesting challenge occurred.
Before I used to travel by bus and subway and I used that time wisely. I read, studied music, brain stormed with myself even meditated if the trip was long enough. But when I left for the south I found myself in a much smaller environment. No long distances made it better traveling by bike.
No more reading! No more memorizing music on the go! What to do?
I decided to get a new phone where I could upload mp3 files to listen to while on my bike. Not music but instead inspirational talks and lectures. I started to get eBooks on personal development, business strategies etc. While taking the bike, any short ride, I would listen to something that would educate me in some way. I used those little increments of time to get loads of information into my brain.
While I was at it I brought it to the gym too. I never understood how anyone could listen to another set of music while the loudspeakers at the gym blast out pop randomly. But listening to spoken material doesn’t disturb me at all. It just floats on top of the background noise.
Another time management idea is:
You CAN turn off the TV for 15 minutes and do something productive for your business. Yes, it will take you longer than if you turn it of for an hour. Or even even get rid of i all together. I don’t have one since 20 years or so. People wonder how I get so much done… 😉
But even with only those extra 15 minute away from TV you still arrive faster than those who hoped, planned, prayed, and waited for the perfect time to implement. That is to say, intention is NOT enough!
In other words: Any small step forward will get you closer to your goal. You see, it doesn’t matter how good intentions you have. It is only the result that counts, in the end and in your wallet!
How will you use your “spare time”? Those little moments where you thought nothing productive can be done? Give your tips in the comment box below, thanks!
