Let’s talk about The addiction to promising stuff

Do You Have It, The Addiction To Promising Stuff?

On my blog post on January 1st I got a question in one of the comments. Did I have any tips about the mental habits of a resolution making? That question provoked some thought and grew into this idea. I stopped long time ago, but there seems to exist an addiction to promising stuff. As if the promise would do it for you.

Tomorrow you can therefore join me on Facebook where I will ponder on making promises, giving vows and falling into the trap of resolutions. You can always find me there on Thursday’s.

This Time Of Year!

Since we are in the time of year when people throw promises around themselves right and left, I thought resolutions is a good thing to muse about in the next “What’s your question?”. It’s this week’s live send on Facebook, Thursday, 4th of January, at 7 AM test. Or 13:00 (UTC+1) in Central Europe.

I have followers, friends and contacts all over the world, Europe, USA, South America, The Pacifics. Every continent in fact, hence it’s impossible to find a time in accord with everyones time zone. Therefore I decided on what’s comfortable for me. If you can’t show up live, you can alway listen to the recording and post your comment at the replay.

Come on over! 🙂

Doe it intrigues you? Please come over to The Energized Me on Facebook tomorrow and we can have a conversation about holding on to a resolution. See you then and there!

ps. When you have a topic on you mind suited for “What’s your question?”, feel free to contact me. You can do so here or at Facebook. Either in officially in a comment field, or as a private PM. Looking forward to hearing from you!

pps. Bookmark this weekly in your calendar too. If you can’t come tomorrow, it’s always good to have a reminder in your agenda for future reference.

  1. i got to say I do have this addiction.. renaming resolutions to goals is how I do it 🙂 will try to join in tomorrow’s discussion as am sure will be interesting.. and love what you say about yourself!!

  2. I love how you said that! It’s exactly how I see it. More on that tomorrow. Thanks for your visit and taking the time to comment Vidya. 🙂

  3. I am redesigning the way I eat at the moment. I actually wanted to start after christmas, but there were still too many goodies (actually I shouldn’t call them good, because they are detrimental to my health) around. So it has helped me in the past to set a date for a certain change. I did that both for stopping smoking and for going vegan and it worked very well. Actually, for the smoking I had to try 4 times but am now smoke free for many years (yey!) and the fourth time was when I set a date and did some inner work and educational work working up to that date.
Will be interesting to hear your opinion about that tomorrow!

    1. LOL 😀

Many year ago when I decided I wanted to loose some weight after ending my career as a dancer. I changed right before Christmas. My then husband said “you are the only one I know that would to that!”

I just stopped what I had been doing from one day to another. 🙂 It wasn’t a diet it was a life altering habit, couldn’t see why I should wait. My desire for change was very strong, that was “all”.

  4. I try hard to avoid disappointing myself, so I avoid making a promise, or a resolution, that I don’t think I can keep. I do set intentions, but I try to avoid the quantifiers.

    1. Good strategy Jeanine! Disappointments follow us through life. They hover in our energy field and bring us down whenever we make a new resolution.
