Do you have cold feet in the evening?
When you have repeated the same thing over and over, isn’t time to try something else?
Maybe even do the opposite?
One of the most common tips, found in almost every list of tricks for proper sleep is having a low temperature in your bedroom. For you, it might be awesome. For me it’s awful!
If I get cold nose or elbows, I wake up! Now you may think that I have poor blood circulation, but in the days I rarely freeze. Neither hands, feet, elbows or nose.
When I realized that it was a tip that had the opposite effect to me and that I had to have a warm room, I finally got a big lovely heat pad at the foot end. It is running all year long.
To crawl into cool sheets is a mountain-proof way for me not to fall asleep. My feet become ice cold as soon as they come into contact with the chilly bed. And for the body to be able to fall asleep, it needs to somewhat lower the temperature. This is done by the excess heat exiting through your feet.
But!
If your feet are freezing, they must be thawed first otherwise they will not let go of that extra body heat. That’s when you lie there with cold feet and a body to hot to sleep. Quite logical, but nothing mentioned concerning insomnia.
I know many, especially women, have cold feet in the evening. But this is a common problem easily remedied. Turn on a heating pad before going to bed, then the sheets are warm and cozy when you snuggle down. Mine is 80cm × 150cm. I’ve turned it across the width of the bed, that way my feet never have to get into a cold and unpleasant area. For sure you know what I mean. 😉
One size really does not fit all.

Do you have cold feet in bed? Is it perhaps time to get a heating pad? Tell me in the comment field! 🙂
PS. Switch off the pad before you fall asleep. Waking up from grilled feet is not nice either. Too much and not enough is a shame is what my grandmother used to say. Or the short version: Enough is enough. 😀
