Are you willing to start the journey of understanding yourself?
All this talk about “just be yourself”. (eye roll)
Knowing and understanding yourself is intense work.
It requires you being present and observant of yourself.
Knowing yourself asks for attention.
It means you have to take a good look and admit parts of you that you are trying to avoid.
Understanding yourself requires flexibility and willingness to change when you find what serves you to change.
It can be painful, or at least uncomfortable. And on top of it, it requires help, guidance if you will.
Through the ages and cultures, that person has had many names.
The coach, teacher, guru, therapist, counselor, shaman…
Someone who helps you step out from behind that mask of yours.
It could be me.
It could be someone else.
But it has to be someone!
A someone who’s been there and done that!
All true—that hardest part is the willingness to change.
Oh yes! The comfort of staying in discomfort is immense! It’s a way to survive.
I find myself always changing. I also find that I’m different depending on the company I keep. It’s been an interesting journey,
That’s a good point Eydie. Who am I, whom do I desire to with whom? It’s indeed about being yourself, in different ways. We are so much!
I have been mindfully practicing observing myself on my thoughts, my words, and my actions. It is TOUGH work for me. At this point, I feel I am getting better at it. It has uncovered some interesting aspects of myself that were interesting to discover.
Thanks for sharing.
And the deeper you follow down you own rabbit hole, the more interesting it becomes! 🙂
I appreciate your visit Paul!
