Are You Chasing A Dream While Building A Business?

Chasing A Dream

Are You Chasing A Dream?

I think it’s about attitude and perspective. Chasing a dream can easily become just another hamster wheel. As far as I can see it is too. At least that is how I experience my own life as a small business owner working as a coach and opera singer.

This is one of my posts about being real.

An artist is a business owner!

Any artist is a business owner, whether you like it or not. We are all freelance as musicians, photographers, designers, writers, dancers etc. But so are most coaches and consultants. It’s a life of strife and struggle for most of us, with occasional breakthroughs, but do they last?

Rarely!

However, when you see what people post online you can readily get the notion the struggle is temporary. Especially if you’re a coach! You catch the dream et voila, there you have it!

You slept in your car, but now you travel the world.
You came from small means, but now you earn 6, 7 or why not 8 figures!
You hated your job, but now you love every minute, and if I have any questions I should not hesitate to contact your wonderful team of experts.

I have no team

If you’re anything like me, you don’t either. I do it all by myself. Every single word is written by me. All pictures with fancy design and clever words are mine. Scheduled posts, scheduled by me. Fan page, Facebook groups, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest and everything I haven’t even mentioned, all run by me. me. me.

Or in your case. You. You, You!
Am I right?

I’ve had a lot of coaching

To get anywhere you’ve got to implement. Work. Hustle. Give it any name you like. Sitting on your ass won’t do, so you start chasing a dream.

Without coaching though, you won’t get anywhere! You wouldn’t know what to do. An online presence is a complex thing, evolving and morphing by the minute.

Therefore I got the coaching and training needed. I’ve paid one high-end course after the other. I had the personal 1:1 coach. I traveled from Europe to USA 3 times. I received a pretty awesome and well deserved certificate in online marketing. I’ve implemented like crazy and still… My hamster is going at full speed.

For the wheel to stop spinning, the hamster must cease running. For the dream to be caught you’ve got to calm down and focus on the target.

And accept that the catch might be brief and you’ll have to jump onto that wheel for the 7th time.

  1. “You’ve got big dream and right here’s where you start paying. In sweat!” πŸ˜‰ Yes, I am a writer and coach still on that hamster wheel, myself. And yes, it is still me, me, me! I’ve had coaching classes/groups and some 1:1 coaching, too. Still paying, in sweat. I love your blog, though, and your realness. Love, too, that you are in your blog title. And to show my love, I have nominated you for a Liebster Award. πŸ™‚

  2. I do it all..Sometimes l get overwhelmed. When l do, I just take a step back to regroup. So far, it works my little grey cells and keeps me young :-).

  3. Mmm. I’ve recently spoken with various people about the difference between being a seeker (chasing, chasing, always on the run for more, better etc) or a finder. I think what you wrote about here resonates with that reasoning as well. Once you stop searching so much, odds are one might just find more.
